From Stage to Spice

6 Fiery spice levels of Nashville-style fried chicken made Chix Hot Chicken a crowd favourite - But for co-founder and homegrown singer Taufik Batisah, the story behind the brand is just as flavourful.

Fried chicken may not be the first thing you associate with Taufik Batisah. Yet the well-loved singer has reinvented himself as a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur, branching into real estate, interior design, and food and beverage, with Chix Hot Chicken standing out as one of his most rewarding ventures.

The halal food joint’s journey began in 2018 at Jalan Pisang, when Taufik co-founded Chix with his business partners, Ismail Rawi Bober and Shehzad Hussain. Together, they introduced Nashville-style fried chicken to Singapore, complete with six fiery spice levels — from Mild to the daredevil “Atomic”. The concept quickly caught on, with the first outlet drawing crowds for its bold flavours and fussfree comfort.

Building on that success, Chix opened its second outlet at Prinsep Street, a larger space that gave the team freedom to experiment with new sliders, sauces, and seasonal specials. Designed as a sleek, futuristic take on the classic Americana diner, the Prinsep outlet has since become a lively hub for both loyal regulars and curious newcomers.

Congrats on your second Chix outlet. How has the response been so far?
Taufik: Thank you! The response has been great so far. 64 Prinsep Street has such a great energy—young, vibrant, and always buzzing. We’ve seen both loyal customers and first-timers walk through the door, and the feedback on the food and vibes has been really positive. It's been a great second home for Chix.

Has the new outlet given you room to experiment with new dishes?
Taufik: Definitely. We’ve created a few items exclusive to Prinsep, and we’ve been experimenting with new sliders, sauces, and even local-inspired flavours — especially with the festive season in mind.

How involved are you in developing the recipes for Chix’s signature dishes?
Taufik: I’m very involved. From flavours and spice levels to presentation, I like to put myself in the shoes of fried chicken lovers to see if what we’re serving really hits the spot.

What makes your fried chickenstand out?
Taufik: Our six spice levels are always a conversation starter. Customers love debating who can handle the Atomic level! We’ve taken that Southern classic and given it a bold, local edge with our spice rub and sauces. A bite into one of our burgers is sure to bring comfort, laughter — or maybe even tears, depending on the heat.

You’re juggling music, F&B, property, and now an upcoming concert. How do you manage it all?
Taufik: I’ve learnt to prioritise what matters and to trust in teamwork — whether it’s family, rehearsals, property work with Batisah Realtors, running Chix, or working alongside my wife Sheena. I don’t do it all alone; I have amazing people who share the vision and help carry it forward. And I genuinely love what I do. Whether I’m on stage, closing a property deal, or talking to customers at Chix, it never feels like switching hats — it’s all connected by passion and purpose, and= that’s what keeps me going.

Your first concert One Last Dance sold out injust a few hours. How did that moment feel?
Taufik: It was surreal. Selling 5,000 tickets so quickly caught me off guard in the best way. It felt like a full-circle moment. Humbling, emotional, and a reminder of why I started this journey in the first place.

What do you hope fans take away from the concert?
Taufik: Beyond the music, I hope it reminds people of the journey we’ve taken together. One Last Dance isn’t just about nostalgia — it’s about growth, gratitude, and connection. I want fans to leave feeling inspired and celebrated, knowing they’ve been part of something special.

And beyond music and Chix, what’s next for you?
Taufik: I’m excited about expanding Batisah Realtors and building a stronger team to help people make confident property decisions. I’ve also recently started my own interior design company, Ivory Cove, which ties in beautifully with my real estate vertical. It creates a seamless and cohesive flow for clients — from buying a home to designing it.

" I've had one too many humbling - and tearful - experience with Atomic. These days, I keep it chill and usually go with Hot. We use the hottest peppers in the world, FYI!"

“After so many years in the industry, that kind of love and excitement from fans meant everything to me — especially when my concert sold out in
just a few hours."

Good Times with Chix

Tips from Taufik on how to serve and enjoy Chix Hot Chicken at home — perfect for sharing with friends and family.

1. Turn up the fun with spice levels

Label the spice levels from ‘Mild’ to ‘Atomic’ for our fried chicken and let your guests put their taste buds to the test — it might just spark a friendly dare filled with laughter (and a few tears)!

2. Keep it hot and crispy

If you’re ordering for a party, crack open our takeaway box slightly to prevent steam buildup during delivery. That keeps the chicken crisp. For reheating, stick to the oven or air fryer — never the microwave!

3. Serve buffet-style

Set it up buffet-style for fuss-free fun. Line up sliders, wings, tenders, Dirty Taters and sides so guests can build their own plates. And don’t skip the sauces — our comeback, honey mustard and ranch are essentials, and people love to dip!

4. Balance the heatwith sides

Our Dirty Taters are a must: crispy tater tots loaded with cheese sauce, fried chicken bits and our comeback sauce. For something refreshing, our Tangy Slaw cuts through the spice, while Cheese Fries and Popcorn Chix are easy, shareable crowd-pleasers.

5. Pair with indulgent drinks

Our thick milkshakes always do the trick — choose from Vanilla, Milo or Cookies & Cream. We’ve been told they’re some of the best in Singapore!

6. Try Taufik’s must-have

Soul Sliders: crispy chicken, fluffy buttered buns, slaw, pickles and our signature Chix Pink sauce. It’s the kind of dish I can eat all the time — day or night, solo or shared — and I’ll probably still crave more!
